Customised profiles: the customisations offered by Profilsystem
Design and production of customised metal profiles for every application
Metal profiles can be applied across numerous industries and sectors, from construction to furniture manufacturing, mechanical and electronic industries, and material handling. Each production sector requires specific solutions carefully designed to perform optimally under particular conditions and for defined purposes.
Thanks to innovative production technologies and the expertise of a team of specialized technicians, Profilsystem designs and manufactures both standard and custom metal profiles in various shapes and dimensions, tailored to clients' needs and final applications. All profiles offered are customizable in numerous aspects, with reduced dimensional tolerances, and are available in a variety of materials to precisely meet client requirements.
Key Features of Profilsystem Metal Profiles
Profilsystem brings decades of expertise to the design and production of custom profiles. Over the years, it has specialized in creating high-quality metal profiles that meet specific industry standards and deliver long-lasting, optimal performance. Profilsystem's production is distinguished by the use of high-grade raw materials, state-of-the-art technologies, a large operational capacity, and rigorous control of every production phase: from profile design to final delivery.
Quality is further guaranteed by Profilsystem's certified Quality Management System (compliant with UNI EN ISO 9001 and 1090 standards), the use of certified materials, and technologically advanced production controls.
Customized commercial profiles
Commercial profiles are standard-sized and simple-shaped profiles, such as U, Omega, and L profiles. Profilsystem offers these profiles with customizable options, including dimensions, lengths, materials, and specific features such as perforations and interval markings. Notable offerings include:
- U Profiles: Available in carbon steel (pickled, galvanized, polished, or black), stainless steel, Corten steel, and aluminum. These profiles can also include custom perforations and markings.
- Omega Profiles: Widely used across industries, such as for brackets or bike racks. These profiles are available in various materials tailored to the sector's needs and specific characteristics.
- L Profiles: Traditional angular profiles, primarily used in the construction industry, customizable to client specifications.
- C Profiles: Frequently used in construction, including reinforced flange versions for added strength and load capacity.
Special and custom-designed profiles: Tailored Solutions
In addition to standard commercial profiles, Profilsystem provides special custom-designed metal profiles for various needs. These profiles are entirely customizable with specific technical characteristics, utilizing high-quality raw materials and adhering to tight dimensional tolerances. Special profiles are characterized by more complex designs and are applicable in a broad range of uses, such as structural frameworks, industrial buildings, and support structures in construction. To meet the needs of each customer, Profilsystem is able to design and produce profiles 100% custom-made, supplied in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses, depending on the precise requirements of each project.
Customization options include dimensions and lengths tailored to client needs (with standard or custom tolerances), custom interval perforations, markings, and clamping techniques for closed profiles. Profiling tolerances for non-specified parameters include:
- Dimensional tolerances: ±0.5 mm
- Internal bending radius: From 1 to 0.25 times the thickness
- Straightness of bars: Maximum deflection of 0.25% of the length
- Torsion: 2° per linear meter
- Length: Commercial 6000 mm ±20 mm, fixed ±1 mm
Depending on the client's specific requirements and the profile's intended application, tighter tolerances can be defined, achieving dimensional tolerances as precise as ±0.3 mm or customized internal radii as needed.
Custom metal profiles: material selection
Drawing metal profiles can be made from a wide variety of materials, such as steel, aluminium, copper or other metal alloys. The choice of material depends on the needs of the project and the customer’s preferences. Stainless steel profile profiles, for example, are very strong and long-lasting, but they are also generally heavier and more expensive. Galvanised steel metal profiles are cheaper but less resistant.
Profilsystem metal profiles are made using the best materials on the market to guarantee safe and high quality products and provide the most suitable solutions for each customer’s needs. Depending on requirements, special profiles can be ordered in:
- ETP (Electrolytic Tough Pitch) copper, obtained by electrolytic refining and treated with pine trunk (a special treatment to reduce oxidation of the liquid metal), ideal for electrical and electronic applications due to its low electrical conductivity. It is often used in the electrical panel construction, welding machines and components for electrical plant engineering;
- Aluminium, a material with characteristics that make it ideal for use in numerous sectors, increasingly used in green applications due to its sustainability. Aluminium can be recycled without losing its original characteristics and with low energy costs. It is also resistant to corrosion, water and some chemicals and particularly light;
- Carbon steel, black or pickled, available with coatings such as zinc plating, chrome plating or varnishing. Carbon steel can be used in various fields such as metal carpentry, stamping, shipbuilding or high-strength applications in the automotive sector;
- stainless steel, characterized by a higher resistance to oxidation and corrosion, even exposed to wet air or water, compared to carbon steel. It is available annealed (therefore even more flexible) in different finishes BA, 2B, 2D, 2E and can be requested with different surface finishes, for example brushed (or scotch brite) or satin;
- Sendzimir, Aluzinc, Magnelis or galvanized steel: the galvanized steel is obtained by a hot-dip galvanizing process which allows the steel to be isolated from external corrosive agents. The difference between the different types depends on their coating and oxidation resistance: about 250 hours for galvanized steel Sendzimir, about 500 hours for Aluzinc steel and about 1000 hours for Magnelis steel.
